Want to write a novel, but not sure where to start? Need to brush up on your storytelling skills? Looking to launch your creative writing career? This writing course, developed and taught by author/speaker/creator Andrew Buckley, is designed to help those who are thinking of writing a novel, have started writing a novel, or are just looking for something really awesome and inspiring to kick them in the creative rear end! This course will take attendees on a storytelling journey, right from the foundational basics, through the labyrinth of character development, conflict, setting, and act structure, emerging on the other end as a group of hardened literary warriors, unafraid to hold their pens (or keyboards) aloft and scream their war cry into the chaotic winds of the publishing world! Or something to that effect.
This class is an interactive online workshop using Zoom.
Andrew Buckley is a film school-educated writer, which means he’s spent most of his life with no money and a high opinion about bad movies. Around the turn of the century he attended the Vancouver Film School’s Writing for Film and Television program, graduating with excellence. Today, he’s a traditionally and self-published novelist, a comic book writer, screenwriter, filmmaker, podcaster, teacher, and presenter.
For over 20 years, he’s worked in the dreaded world of marketing as a content creator, copywriter, and strategist for large national and international brands. He actively develops curriculum and teaches marketing, social media, and communication theory at two national private colleges.
As a writer, Andrew favors playing in the fantasy and paranormal sandboxes and is drawn to writing with a humorous and satirical slant despite being asked politely on numerous occasions to ‘please stop doing that’.
As the co-founder and lead instructor at Wordsmith Academy, Andrew speaks to thousands of students each year about storytelling and writing through the delivery of interactive and engaging workshops and presentations at schools, colleges, writing conferences, teachers conferences, and comic cons at an international level.
We are a community that thrives on support and encouragement. Based on the philosophy of "no writer left behind", the J. Michael Fay Subsidy Program is available to anyone who finds themselves in financial need but really wants or needs to participate in one our programs are classes.
