The Writers Guild of Alberta and the Alexandra Writers Centre Society have been working hard and are pleased to announce that conference registration will open soon. Highlights of this year’s conference include:

Now into 2021, we look forward to the time when we can meet again in person and share in the creative community that together we have worked so hard to build. .
Even as restrictions begin to loosen around the province, the health and safety of our members continues to be our main priority. cSpace King Edward remains closed to the public and so, AWCS REMAINS CLOSED.

Announcing Our 2021 Writer in Residence
Alison Clarke is a #1 bestselling author on Amazon, a poet, and a fantasy author who has a Master’s degree in Children’s Literature from Hollins University. She is also a creative writing and visual arts instructor and experiences life as a spoken word artist, performing at festivals in Edmonton, like Black Arts Matter.
The program runs from March to May 2021 with manuscript consultations, workshops, events and more.
Own Voices Alberta 2021
Own Voices Alberta is a program for writers within the Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) community, who live in Alberta and are at the beginning of their literary journey. The program runs for four months and is fully subsidized, making it cost-free for successful applicants.
Program period: March – July 2021
Application deadline: February 26, 2021 – 11:59 MST
