After years of being focused on career and family, sacrificing hidden ambitions, it is time to pursue your own dreams of becoming a writer. Yet, the profession is dominated by youth. In “Late Bloomers”, the neophyte writer who is over 50 will develop strategies for getting published. Whether writing stories, a novel, creative nonfiction, a memoir or articles, these in-person sessions will be safe, encouraging environments where writers will share and develop their own work with the goal of getting it into print. Learn to navigate the world of literary magazines and pinpoint submissions for success.
This is an in person class that takes place at the Alexandra Writers Centre Society.
Stephen Price writes and teaches writing on Turtle Island, which he grew up calling Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is particularly interested in helping those who have taken up writing late in life after they have finished their careers. He was a classroom teacher for thirty years. When he retired in 2019, his students, who he often wrote stories for, encouraged him to continue writing. He has been published in The Militant Grammarian, 10x10 Flash, Passengers Journal and The Downtime Review. The editors of The Downtime Review have nominated his story for a Pushcart Prize.
