beta reading services

Test your manuscript on your ideal audience.

What is beta Reading?

Think of it as beta testing your product on your target audience. If you're writing high fantasy, you want high fantasy readers to check it out, make sure it hits all the beats. Romance writer, general fiction writer, memoirist. See if your manuscript connects the way you want.

When should I do a beta read?

Don't get a beta read until you're ready to go to market. Whether you want to submit to agents and publishers or self-publish, beat reading is your last step before submission.

What to expect from a beta read

  • After you submit your manuscript we will forward it to our beta readers who are interested in your genre.
  • We will confirm as soon as your manuscript has been accepted by readers. You may get more than one reader.
  • We will ask the readers a series of questions such as: what they loved about the book, what they didn't love about the book, whether or not they were able to finish reading. We will ask if there is anything they can suggest before it goes out into the world, what would they rate the book out of 5 and so on.
  • That feedback will then be compiled and returned to you. What you choose to do with it after, is up to you.
  • Beta Readers will remain anonymous.
  • Please allow up to 4 weeks for feedback.
  • This is a free service to you. The beta readers are also volunteers.
