Why do some stories keep us turning pages while others lose us right away? Each genre grabs readers in different emotional ways: thrillers play on fear and suspense, romance builds on longing and anticipation, and speculative fiction taps into curiosity and wonder. In this four-week course, we’ll explore how emotion, pacing, tension, and reader expectations work together to keep a story engaging. Each session will include craft discussions and practical exercises to help writers improve their openings, turning points, and high-stakes scenes.

This class takes place online using Zoom.
