Missing your own deadlines or not setting any at all? Have you been writing the same novel for ten years? Do you write occasionally and then take long breaks, or are you stuck rewriting the same opening scene (guilty!) over and over again and never make it to the second scene? In this practical workshop, you'll adapt classic and modern project management methods to your writing life so you can plan realistically, protect your creative spark, and actually finish.

We'll explore how to blend planning + creativity, make realistic estimates, and build a personal roadmap for your current project. You'll learn to apply Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid techniques commonly used in software to a writer's workflow, and get hands-on with Scrivener, Excel/Google Sheets, and Trello to track progress without stifling your voice. Come with an idea, a draft-in-progress, or a nearly finished manuscript, then leave with a step-by-step plan and weekly targets you can keep.

For fiction and nonfiction writers who want momentum, clarity, and a system that fits real life.

This class takes place online using Zoom.

Deniz A. Soykurumcetin, PMP, ITIL brings 15+ years of program-management leadership to the writing desk. A certified PMP(Project Management Professional) with deep Agile/Scrum experience, Deniz has taught project management to technology professionals from Agile and Scrum to practical delivery toolchains. She translates those methods into writer-friendly systems using Scrivener, Google Sheets, and Trello.

Deniz writes dystopian/speculative fiction and poetry and is currently working on the novel Olives in My Saddlebag. Recent recognition includes Kingfisher Poetry (shortlist, 2025), Magpie Poetry (longlist, 2025), and Hummingbird Flash Fiction (longlist, 2025). Deniz is a member of the Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society and the Creative Academy for Writers, and a regular at SiWC, When Words Collide, and the Vancouver Writers Fest.
