You've got the basics of mystery writing down, now it's all about creating the perfect crime. Crime and mystery fiction continues to be one of the most read, most commercially successful genres of creative writing. Millions of stories are sold around the world every month dealing with everything from serial killers to fraud, extortion and general criminality. And we all love it, right?

This course builds on from the basics of mystery writing and spends a little longer looking at plot devices and tropes associated with the genre. From the extensive research needed to create believable investigations to the machinations and psychology of villains and their motives. We'll take a deeper dive into the workings of real-life cases and the gruesome details that have inspired your favourite reads.

If you thought your Google search history was bad already - it's about to get much worse!

This class takes place in person at the Alexandra Writers Centre Society
