Be a part of this engaging conversation between Tash McAdam and Finnian Burnett, as they dive into the complexities of storytelling in times of crisis.
In this Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) event, our authors will cover a range of topics:
- the role of storytelling (and storytellers) in uncertain times
- celebrating and amplifying nuanced representation of queer and trans experiences in fiction and creative writing
- examining the challenges and opportunities in the literary and publishing worlds
The event also features a reading, with Tash McAdam sharing excerpts from their novel No One Left But You, a trans led murder mystery novel for teens.
Join this thought-provoking dialogue, moderated by Finnian Burnett, who will be discussing these and many other topics with Tash McAdam.
This program takes place online via Zoom.
Tash McAdam is a Welsh-Canadian author, activist and educator. Their publications include the critically acclaimed trans led murder mystery, No One Left But You (SoHo Teen), Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selections Blood Sport and Sink or Swim from Orca Books and more. Tash is passionate about social justice and mentors trans youth through the Gender Generations Project, a program they sit on the board for and were instrumental in founding. When they’re not writing or reading you can find Tash in a lake, lying on the carpet thinking about monsters, or getting a new tattoo. They enjoy regular cups of tea, DIY, existential philosophy, and sharp objects.
Finnian Burnett’s work explores the intersections of the human body, mental health, and gender identity. They are a recipient of the Canada Council for the Arts grant, a finalist in the 2023 CBC nonfiction prize, and a 2024 Pushcart nominee.
Their work appears in Blank Spaces Magazine, Reflex Press, The Daily Sci-Fi, CBC, and more. Their two novellas-in-flash, The Clothes Make the Man and The Price of Cookies, are available through Ad Ho9c Fiction and Off Topic Publishing respectively.
When not writing or teaching, Finnian enjoys walking, Star Trek, and cat memes. Finn can be found at www.finnburnett.com
