IN PERSON Three Days. Three Stories. A Flash Fiction Intensive
Three Day Intensive | Tuesday to Thursday, June 3-5, 2025 | 10am-3pm
Instructor: Finnian Burnett
MEMBER PRICE: $275.00
NON-MEMBER PRICE: $375.00
Join Finnian Burnett for a three day, in-person flash fiction intensive where you will be reading flash, studying craft techniques, and writing stories! Come expecting to write and have some fun!
Flash fiction challenges writers to create entire worlds, complex characters, and emotional depth—all within a few hundred words. This workshop will immerse you in the art of flash fiction, give you tools to create and hone your stories, and leave you with tools to take back to your own writing, whatever your preferred genre or style.
Over the course of three days, you’ll explore:
Day 1: Foundations of Flash: Dive into structure and point of view.
Day 2: Character-Driven Stories and the physicality of flash fiction.
Day 3: Experimentation and Revision: Explore innovative forms of flash fiction, from lists to monologues, and refine your drafts into polished pieces.
Participants will read and analyze a variety of flash fiction pieces, generate ideas through guided prompts, and write multiple drafts in a supportive, creative environment. We’ll focus on experimentation, brevity, and creating stories with a strong emotional core.
This intensive is open to writers of all levels, whether you’re new to flash fiction or looking to deepen your craft. Everyone is encouraged—but never obligated—to share their work in a welcoming and positive space.
This class takes place in person at the Alexandra Writers Centre.
