Holly Day Party - a potluck party of food and make-believe

FREE MEMBER EVENT
Join us for an evening filled with fun, warmth, and creativity! Our annual holiday party will be a celebration of the season, each other, and the magic of storytelling. As the year comes to a close, let’s celebrate as a community with a holiday potluck to remember.
What to Bring to the Holiday Potluck:
- Mirth and merriment
- Your favourite holiday dish to share— homemade or store-bought—be it savoury, sweet or somewhere in between
An assortment of drinks will be provided, but feel free to bring your preferred beverage.
This year’s theme is ‘Celebrating Holly Day’, a fictional character of your own creation. It will be a potluck of food and creativity.
Who is Holly Day? Holly is blank character who you can turn into anything you choose. Holly Day could be a character in your work-in-progress, an imaginary friend, or your alter ego. We’ll be sharing festive stories about our own Holly Day. Is Holly a trickster? An explorer? A mythical creature? A movie star? Or your next door neighbour? Is the food your brought Holly’s favourite dish? You can even come dressed as your own version of Holly Day!
Although it is not mandatory to participate in the theme, we hope you’ll get into the Holly Day spirit.
Not into Holly Day? It’s okay. There is a lot of good cheer and conversation to be had during the evening.
Highlights of the evening include:
- Mouthwatering Potluck Buffet: Taste a variety of holiday favorites
- Great Conversations: Catch up with old friends and meet new ones.
- Festive Music: Enjoy seasonal tunes and fun games that will get everyone in the holiday spirit.
- Holly Day Open Mic: Share a story about Holly Day--a fictional character of your own creation. Holly Day is a character who we have intentionally kept open and vague. Feel free to create a Holly Day character whoever, whatever, however you like! Each person who signs up for the Open Mic will have up to 5 minutes to share their story. Not feeling up to sharing? It's totally okay! We are happy to celebrate with you and would love for you to cheer on our open mic participants.
- Come in Holly Day gear or Come as You Are!: Does Holly like hoodies? overalls? Is Holly a shapeshifter? Or maybe a disco fanatic? If you're feeling extra festive, come dressed up in your own version of Holly Day. If you are not comfortable to come in costume, please feel free to come as you are. We want you to have fun your way.
This is a social, casual event, centered on celebrating each other, and our stories.
Let's celebrate, create lasting memories, and fill the room with holiday joy. Feel free to bring a friend or two and share in the festivities. See you there!
