Seeing your book on the shelf is the ultimate goal for some aspiring writers. To walk into a bookstore and be able to pick up your work, then and there, may seem like a far-off dream. But it's not impossible. Far from it. This event looks at some of the do's and do not do's of traditional publishing and how to maximise your chances of attracting agents and publishing houses to your work. From how to research agencies and agents that will best represent your wonderful manuscript, to what to keep in and out of a proposal letter. And even what trends the industry is looking for across ALL genres. There'll be a few handy tips, hacks and cheats along the way.

This is an interactive online class using the Zoom web platform.

Jonathan Whitelaw is an award-winning writer, journalist and broadcaster. After working on the frontline of Scottish politics, he moved into journalism, covering everything from sports to music to radioactive waste – and everything in between. He's also a regular reviewer, panellist, podcaster and commentator. Jonathan's cozy mystery series - The Bingo Hall Detectives - won the Lakeland Book of the Year prize for fiction in 2023. His latest novel is The Village Hall Vendetta.
