Explore creative writing without the long-term commitment of a full class. Students will be introduced to elements of story (character, plot, dialogue, POV, setting/world building etc.) through discussion, free writing exercises and practical focused-exercises. Play with imagery, language, creative non-fiction, poetry and so much more to get you started on your creative writing journey.
This is ideal for the brand new writer who has never put pen to paper, the hobby writer, and any writer who simply wishes to refresh their skills.
All genres and styles of writing will be explored.
This class takes place in person at the Alexandra Writers’ Centre in Calgary.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Meghan Victoria grew up in the frozen wilds of Labrador and is obsessed with historical east coast life, all things weird and fantastic, magic, drumming, dragons, the woods, and the list goes on and on. After moving to Calgary, Alberta, she found a writing community that turned into family. Meghan’s short fiction has been featured by Coffin Hop Press, the Antigonish Review, Radical Bookshop + Press, and various other magazines and anthologies. When not crafting new worlds or crying over the editing process, you can find Meghan hiking across far-flung continents, teaching yoga, hosting full moon ceremonies, and snuggling her fat cat, Nancy.
