Stuck in your writing? Sometimes writers' muddy middles are the result of not knowing the antagonist well enough. Whether a loving parent, sneaky teen rival, tornado, uncaring society, or the protagonist’s own shameful past, your antagonist is an engine that drives the action of your story. But how well do you know them? Like the protagonist, the author must clearly understand the opponent’s desires, needs, fears, and plans. After all, the antagonist is the second-most important character in your book. Come with your story ideas, drafts or completed novels to discuss.
This class takes place in person at the Alexandra Writers’ Centre in Calgary.
