The final stretch of the weird marathon that is novel-writing can be exhausting and lonely. It feel like the road is hopelessly spooling out toward an unimaginable ending that recedes as you scribble. But you can do it! In four sessions we will look at practical ways to galvanize and sustain your energy for the last push; we’ll examine the signposts and tentpoles of your own particular structure, to help you make sense of where you are right now and what you need to get to the end; we’ll even take a stab at what comes next: how to refine and craft your submission draft.

This is an interactive online class using the Zoom web platform.

Marina Endicott has finished six novels so far: The Observer will be out in September 2023. Her second book, Good to a Fault, was a finalist for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and CBC Radio’s Canada Reads, and won the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize. The Little Shadows was short-listed for the Governor General’s award and long-listed for the Giller Prize, as was Close to Hugh. Her latest novel, The Difference, won the City of Edmonton book award and the City of Dartmouth fiction prize. She teaches creative writing at the University of Alberta, Humber Writing School, and the Banff Centre for the Arts.
