Sept. 20 - Nov. 8
Instructor: Laurie Fuhr
MEMBER PRICE: $255.00 (with member coupon AWCSM25)
NON-MEMBER PRICE: $340.00
Poetry Basics Level One serves as both a general introduction to poetry for those who haven’t studied it before, and a refresher for those who have. We’ll start from scratch with an exploration of what makes a piece of writing a poem, then focus on what makes poetry poetic, offering guided writing exercises in class for learning or improving the use of devices in poems of your own. It provides an overview of different styles and forms of poetry, using both classic and contemporary examples, and invites writers to get their feet wet in poetry’s vast ocean of possibilities. Knowledge of poetic craft and exercise of poetic imagination can enhance all other genres of writing. Whether you're writing your first poem ever, or you’re a seasoned poet looking to strengthen your work, Poetry Basics 1 is the fun and informative class for you. It’s also the pre-requisite for Poetry Basics 2 classes in future, if you’re keen!
This is an interactive online class using the Zoom web platform.
