Instructor: Jason Pearce

Many of us have been told to "Show. Don’t tell!" by an instructor, editor or writing group member. But what does that really mean? This online micro-workshop will demystify this topic and get you well on your way to crafting stories that readers will remember.

We will walk through techniques for creating vivid settings, moving plot lines and characters whose words and actions speak for themselves. Hands on activities at the word, sentence and scene level will help you move beyond "telling" readers a story to helping them see, hear and otherwise experience it for themselves.

This class takes place ONLINE using Zoom.

Jason Pearce is a Toronto-based fiction writer whose work has appeared in Grain, Knucklehead Noir, Solstice in Purgatory, The Deadlands, Malahat Review, and Flash Fiction Online. Jason is a proud alumnus of the Audible Indigenous Writer’s Circle and Chair of the Ktaqmkuk Mi’kmaw Fluency Project. He holds an M.A. in English Literature and has taught undergraduate poetry, prose and drama. Jason's debut novel is forthcoming from House of Anansi Press, Spring 2027.
