Micropress activities let writers share their work, and/or that of fellow writers, outside traditional markets. Paper ephemera like broadside, chapbooks, and other objects, produced by printing methods or made by hand, can remove barriers to publishing and provide extra freedom of expression, as well as opportunities to take part in small press fairs and exhibitions. In this hands-on workshop, browse tables of examples, learn of established micropress publishers, and use fun materials to create works to bring home. An in-person experience suitable for writers of all genres.

This class take place in person at the Alexandra Writers’ Centre in Calgary.

Laurie Anne Fuhr is a writer and songwriter. Her poetry collection 'night flying' was published in 2018 by Frontenac House, and her work has been featured in numerous anthologies and publications. A member of the League of Canadian Poets and Poetry In Voice, she has been an instructor with AWCS for over five years, teaching classes such as Free Verse Revival, Womens' Verse Revival, Espresso Poetry, Famous Poets, and her ongoing Sunday drop-in prompts session, Poetry Cafe.
