Novel writing is hard, and perfectionism only makes it harder. You can’t edit the blank page, you can’t fix a story untold, and you can’t polish words unwritten. What can you do? Let’s start by getting messy and leaning into uncertainty. Embrace the tangled story threads, limp language, and flat characters. Don’t let the fear of writing badly keep you from writing at all.
Whether you have an idea, are just getting started, or have stalled out, this class is about providing the encouragement, accountability, skills, and humour to power your way through to The End.
Each class will include writing time with prompts and exercises, so no matter how bananas life gets, you will generate a weekly word count. We’ll look at elements of craft with an eye towards finding inspiration in our obstacles, track our progress, and get to know each other’s projects by sharing excerpts. 3MoNoPro is your support system so let’s get into it, and together we’ll finish what we started.
This course is for writers of all levels willing to make writing a priority for 12 weeks.
This class takes place online using Zoom.
Sarah L. Pratt is a writer, editor, publisher, and bookseller living on Treaty 7 land in the Alberta foothills. She’s the author of three published books, Suicide Stich: Eleven Tales, Infractus, and They’re All Named Poppy. When not engaged in wordy pursuits she can be found running the local trails and annoying her cat, Randall.
