IN PERSON The Writing Nest
5 Weeks | Tuesdays | Begins May 12, 2026 | 11am-12:45pm MT
Instructor: Mar'ce Merrell
Max. 5 participants.
MEMBER PRICE: $240.00
NON-MEMBER PRICE: $300.00
Writing Nests begin with three experiments: deep noticing, deep listening and deep play. Each week, we develop our writing experiments for the following week. The small group is essential to building a container* for writers to gain confidence in their skills, their voice and insight into their writing experiments/writing self.
Examples of experiments:
- 100 words a day of deep noticing
- Movement, then stillness, then, write
- 100 words to play with: inspiration, arrival and departure
- Sound + image + element from nature
- Archetype + danger
Handouts will be provided for all experiments
*A note on container building: Building and holding a container for experimenting writers is a request for space, for letting go of the thoughts which send us back to the past or forward to the future. Mar'ce's commitment is to model being present to the group. She asks for you to notice deeply, to listen and to trust the container that is built together.
This class takes place IN PERSON at the Alexandra Writers Centre.
Mar’ce Merrell is a writing facilitator with many years of experience in writing experimentation with youth, young adults, and adults. Graduating with a Masters Degree in Creative Writing from Sierra Nevada University in 2020, she’s spent the past six years applying the experiments of deep listening, deep play and deep trust to her writing process. These experiments have led to fascinating relationships with all of life– human, animal, tree, plant, water, stars, and all the parts of the whole. She’s teaching now to expand the experiments to include other writers who are interested in deepening their writing journey. This writing nest is a continuation of the experiments Mar’ce has been co-creating with a small group of writers over the past six years.
