ONLINE The List Poem
A series of images, inventories of items or observations, instructionals, timelines, and how-tos. Let’s talk about list poems! In this two-hour workshop, we will read and discuss examples of list poems from the literature and create some works of our own. We will look at how poets use the list poem format to incite action, document process or happenings, and directly engage with the reader. We will complete a list making exercise to generate ideas for poems, and we will create original list poems inspired by the workshop readings and our discussion. You will leave the workshop with one or more list poems as well as several ideas to continue your list making on your own. There will be opportunities to share your work with the group and to ask questions. Similar to all of my workshops, you can expect the poems that we read in this class to represent diverse writers and experiences.
This is an interactive online class using the Zoom web platform.
