ONLINE Leaning Against
Hockey players study each others’ techniques; painters and artists emulate the greats. Writers too, no matter our level, have techniques to learn and habits to break. American writer Maggie Nelson has a brilliant method for acquiring depth, resonance and power in our writing: Leaning Against.
Weekly we will study an excerpt of a powerful writer’s work. Participants will then apply that writer’s techniques – sentence structure, paragraphing, diction, syntax, dialogue, humour… in a piece of their own. My previous students will attest to its fun and effectiveness. It will defamiliarize and energize your writing, and make it soar.
This is an interactive online class using the Zoom web platform.
