ONLINE Introduction To Writing Horror
What are the elements of the horror story? How you can use atmosphere, pacing, dialogue, and character to create a story that makes people spill their popcorn! Or their tea. Workshop is not limited to one platform, but open to all: novels, short fiction, television serial, docu-drama, and film. After a discussion of both subjective and universal horror, this workshop will supply everything attendees need to start writing a horror story of their own. Using a Powerpoint presentation, delivered via Zoom, attendees will have time to take notes, ask questions, and get clarification on all points.
This is an interactive online course using the Zoom web conferencing platform.
Susie Moloney has been writing horror for decades. She’s the bestselling novelist of five books of the supernatural, Bastion Falls, A Dry Spell, The Dwelling, The Thirteen, and Things Withered. In 2015 she crossed the floor to write for the screen and is the screenwriter of the award-winning short films, The Suburbanight, and Romi. Her first full-length feature, Bright Hill Road, made its debut in 2020 at the Calgary International Film Festival to acclaim. Romi is loosely based on the short film, and will be her second feature. She’s currently writing her sixth novel, also in the horror genre.
