ONLINE Building Your Brand Through Your Portfolio
When you hear the name of your favourite writer what pops into your mind? Do you think about their most popular book, the magazines they publish in, the seminars they deliver, the themes they write about, their activism, or something else? When people think about YOU as a writer, what do you hope pops into their mind? In this micro-workshop we will talk about building our personal brands as creatives through intentional curation of experiences and pieces of our portfolios. We will reflect on our individual values and goals as writers, and explore how we can seek out opportunities that propel us along paths that honour them. You will leave this session with a personal statement that summarizes your vision for your “writer’s brand,” several short and long-term portfolio goals that align with that vision, confidence to search for opportunities and experiences that align with your vision, and a personalized “brand-building” plan that you can refer to when applying for experiences or making decisions. What to bring: If you have a writing CV, please bring it along to help with brainstorming in the exercises. You will not be required to share your CV with anyone.
This is an interactive online class using the Zoom web platform.
