Writing Beyond the Basics – Manuscript Workshop
This 13 week course, limited to 6 students, is designed for the writer looking to workshop a manuscript or work-in-progress in a supportive environment with an experienced facilitator and like-minded participants. Week one will focus on strategies for effective critiquing, receiving and applying feedback, rewriting, editing methods and moving beyond the first draft. The remaining 12 weeks will focus on sharing and critiquing participants’ submissions with the goal of creating polished, publishable work. Some lessons may be designed depending on the needs of the participants. Reading submissions and critiquing outside of class time is required. Students will submit material every two weeks.
Course Format: brief lecture, facilitated discussion, critiquing, work-shopping, sharing
- Recommended for writers with a complete first draft or at least very close to being finished that first draft.
- Critiquing/Workshopping experience recommended.
