An art-inspired workshop. Each participant will choose online (or wherever works), run off, and bring to class, two paintings by different artists that have inspired that writer. But as pre-homework, each writer will write a two one-pagers, one emulating each painting—though not the painting’s content, but the materiality and texture of each of the two artist’s paintings. An
insightful day spent discovering how attention to colour, light, energy of brushstroke, spacing, and composition of a painting can open a writer’s creativity.

This class takes place in person at the Alexandra Writers’ Centre in Calgary.
