IN PERSON Physical, Social, and Technological Geography for Speculative Worlds
Most authors creating a science fictional or fantasy world develop a map to help them keep the physical geography straight, as well as to calculate travel times and other infrastructure to underlie the logic of their world. This mini-course will examine how basic geography interacts with society to create possible economies, travel routes, settlement locations, borders, clothing, architecture, myths, and more. Come with your ideas, sketches, or developed maps to discuss how your world can be deepened.
This class takes place in person at the Alexandra Writers’ Centre in Calgary.
