IN PERSON Collaborative Writing
Stuck in a rut? Tired of the sound of your own voice? Looking for an adventure that will expand your wordsmithing skillset? Consider writing collaboratively!
In this workshop writing is anything but solitary. We’ll explore techniques for blending voice, for letting go of ego and expectations and embracing spontaneity. We’ll also talk about logistics: outlining, deadlines, editing strategy, and settling creative differences. More than anything, we’ll be writing. At the end of the day we’ll have stories that would not and could not exist without everyone’s contribution. This workshop is more introvert-friendly than you might think and requires only a willingness to go with the flow.
If you’ve ever wondered how co-writing works, or you’re looking to shake up your creative routine, you’ll have a blast in this unique workshop.
This class takes place in person at the Alexandra Writers’ Centre in Calgary.
Sarah L. Johnson is a curly hair gladiator, maniacal runner, editor, teacher, and literary events wrangler. Her short fiction has been published in numerous anthologies and journals and she’s the author of three books, Suicide Stitch: Eleven Tales (EMP Publishing), Infractus (Coffin Hop Press), and Wall of Fire (The Seventh Terrace). She is also a co-editor at The Seventh Terrace, a Calgary-based small press for horror fiction.
Robert Bose has a fondness for tentacles, picnics, absolute darkness, Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Bourbon, not necessarily in that order. He’s the editor of a variety of books and anthologies for Coffin Hop Press and The Seventh Terrace, and the author of myriad short stories including the fiendish collection, Fishing with the Devil and Wall of Fire. When not writing, editing, publishing, and running unfathomable distances, he spends his time annoying his wife, pestering his troublesome children, and working as a Chief Architect for an economic forecasting software company.
