This interactive workshop is designed to support writers to move beyond the first draft of manuscript development. Day One will be spent working with principles of a manuscript review process that begins with “what’s strong in the writing.” Participants will have opportunities to create “fresh writing” together before moving on to revision stages. During Day Two, participants will bring pieces of writing created outside the workshop; we will work with encouraging editorial principles.
In order to get the most of this workshop, participants are asked to bring writing that is ready for suggestions for revision. You are able to receive feedback without becoming defensive, knowing that everyone is listening for what’s strong in the writing. This workshop is not genre-specific; it’s about learning a process that will serve writers ready to take rough drafts towards final copy.
Please be aware that this workshop will not take participants to the final copy-editing stage.
