Craft and Catharsis: The Art of Memoir
Learn to mine your experience and hone your voice to craft compelling memoir out of the chaos of memory. In this course we will use techniques from fiction and journalism – scenes, dialogue, character development, and research — to shape a story based on real life, to create an entertaining and edifying work fit for an audience. Learn to move beyond the personal, cathartic writing that often forms the foundation for such a project, and to move beyond facts to find a different kind of truth.
