Jacquelyn Austin (she/her)
I offer professional book editing for both fiction and nonfiction writers. Backed by an editing certificate through Simon Fraser University, I confidently give timely, supportive feedback to bring your manuscript to the next level. Making the editing process crystal clear is important to me, and I ensure that you know what to expect at each editing stage. I believe good editing is a conversation, not a one-way prescription of ‘shoulds’ from your editor. Available for an in-person meet ‘n greet if that’s something you’re interested in (because we all like to know who we’re working with!) EDITING SERVICES: Developmental/substantive editing, line editing, copy editing, proofreading |

Vivian Hansen (she/her)
I am experienced with developmental editing for poetry, memoir, creative nonfiction, and fiction (novel and short story). So much of developmental work is imagination; you want to imagine how this creation of yours can become a thing of beauty and literary value. My job in this mentorship is to look for the thread that brings that whole work into a masterpiece of your own making. I have guided memoirists, poets, CNF and fiction writers to experience that full creative conclusion. I would love to work with you! Adria was nominated for an Aurora Award (Urban Green Man, EDGE) in 2014. Carla Myers (she/her)
I believe we all have wisdom to share and stories to tell. My job as a nonfiction editor is to act as a bridge between you, the storyteller, and your reader—removing any unnecessary obstacles to engaging content. With my diverse skillset, I can collaborate with you from the initial big-picture examination through to your manuscript’s final polish. I follow the professional editorial standards of Editors Canada, and my Editing Certificate is from SFU. Authors I’ve worked with describe me as kind, thorough, and encouraging. I’m a mountain girl, a mom to three teenagers, and an avid traveller. EDITING SERVICES: Developmental/substantive editing, line editing, and copyediting. |

Robert Runte (he/him)
A retired professor and former Senior Editor for Five Rivers Publishing, I am currently Senior Editor at SFeditor.ca and EssentialEdits.ca. My approach is to identify strengths and weaknesses and to suggest strategies to take the author to the next level, not only for the current manuscript, but moving forward. As a writing coach, I can help with writer’s block, writer’s angst, motivation, and time management. In addition to new authors, I have worked with traditionally published authors such as the late, great Dave Duncan. I am best known for SF&F but have worked with most genres. Julie Sedivy (she/her)
In addition to being a freelance editor, I’m also an award-winning author and a linguist, both of which inform my editing practice. I’ve co-edited an anthology of personal essays and regularly edit books for the University of Alberta Press. I’ve worked with dozens of individual clients on their books and articles at various stages of development. I have an impeccable understanding of the mechanics of language, a musical ear, and a flair for structure. I’m comfortable copyediting across genres. I especially enjoy developmental and substantive editing of nonfiction, encouraging authors to be inventive in this genre.
