January 29-31 How to Writer a Killer Thriller with Mike Harrison
This course covers the A to Z of writing a first-class
mystery. All great stories take you on a journey and this course
shows how to build yours to a shattering climax. It teaches
character development from a unique perspective and shows
how to keep your story entertaining. It also deals with
the pitfalls of over-plotting and answers the writer's nagging
questions about descriptive narrative: how much is enough and
how much is too much. It's great fun, interactive and you'll
learn more than you ever thought possible
January 29-31 Put Your Past on Paper with Shirley Serviss
Have you always intended to write your life story "someday"?
This workshop will help you discover the story in your life and
how to bring it to life on the page. We will also discuss many
different ways to present your memoir and some of the
difficulties of writing our truth. Come prepared to write and
share
March 5-7 Breathing Poetry Into Life with Sheri-D Wilson
Focus on the possibilities of individual memory, story, dream,
rhythm and voice. Poetry is everywhere when our eyes
become ears and our ears become eyes. This workshop is
about release, personal revolution and revelation. We will also
focus on the presentation of your words, which will give you
the opportunity to traverse the full meaning and breath to your
unique voice.

March 19-21 Morphing Metaphor with Emily Carr
Metaphor is one of the most essential aspects of imaginative
writing, whether poetry, fiction, nonfiction, or drama. In this
workshop you will learn how to create and mobilize metaphors
that are original, surprising, three-dimensional, and, most
importantly, open. Through reading examples, lectures,
discussions, and writing exercises, you will learn to create
"open" metaphors and to integrate them into your writing.
