NEW The Poetry Café – Begins May 28, 2017
12:30-2:30pm | AWCS Members: $10 per session | Non-members: $20 per session
Poetry Cafe combines poetry prompts or exercises to generate poems with workshopping and discussion. It’s great for both emerging and established poets, and it’s open to poets of all ages. Let’s have some fun and write together! Join us to write with prompts from 12:30-1:45 and workshopping from 1:45-2:30.
Note: Our regular Poetry Cafe instructor Laurie Anne Fuhr has to take a medical leave. (No doubt she’ll be trying to write poetry in her hospital bed!). In her stead, she asked three fantastic local poets to fill in for three weeks — November 19, November 26, and December 3rd.
These will be Mount Royal professor and recent Governor General’s Award Winner for his book On Not Losing My Father’s Ashes in the Flood, Richard Harrison (November 19th); Single Onion Poetry Society president and author of several poetry books including Moving Dust, Kirk Miles (November 26th); and Kirk Ramdath, author of Love in a Handful of Dust, and publisher and editor of several print and online publications including WAX Magazine (December 3rd).
