When we watched Jaws, the SHARK wasn't scary. The fin was. When we can see the monster, the scary factor disappears. Join me for this four week course to learn tools to imply the horror. Build dread through setting, mood, and sensory details. Learn what to show, and what to hide. The way your characters react is even more effective than seeing what they're afraid of. Anything can be scary. Learn how to make the mundane everyday terrifying. Then polish your terrifying piece and send it out into the world.

This is an interactive online class using the Zoom web platform.

Sage Tyrtle has taught over 150 writing workshops since 2010. Her work

is available in New Delta Review, The Offing, Lunch Ticket, and Apex

among others. Words featured on NPR, CBC, and PBS, and taught in

schools. Read more at www.tyrtle.com.
