AWCS & Owl's Nest Books - Open Mic Night. Join AWCS on the last Wednesday of every month, in the coziness of Owl's Nest Books, for fun and entertainment with our new monthly open mic events. Support and encourage fellow writers. Read from works in progress or newly published works. Become a face in local literary circles. Everyone Welcome. You do not need to register in advance.
Free Fall Fridays
These sessions have been a huge success. Thank you to everyone who has participated so far. Whether you are stuck in a rut with nothing to write about or you just want to get out and meet new people that share a common interest, Free Fall Fridays is the place for you.
To join us on Fridays — they are two hours of fun and inspiring writing exercises. Meet new people, share experiences and just have an all around good time. Please call for upcoming dates and times.
Morning Sessions: call: 10 am-12 pm;
Evening Session: call: 7 pm-9 pm; NB: no evening sessions until the New Year.
Fee: AWCS Members/Tri-Area Residents: Free;
Non-Members: $10.

AWCS Youth Writing Club
Begins Monday, September 27, 2010, 5:30 pm-6:30 pm in the AWCS Library. Facilitator: Kim Firmston.
Need a place that understands you? Come and join the AWCS Youth Writing Club. Create a writing club the way you want it. Youth led, adult mentored. Guest speakers, writing games, friends and creativity. Ages seventeen and under. Play with your words — all you need is a notebook and pen. Meetings will be held the last Monday of every month from September to June, with the exception of December. Fees: Drop In: $5. Full Year (9 meetings): $25.

We are proud to have Marcello Di Cintio as our 2012 Writer in Residence. Beginning in March, he will instruct a series of creative non-fiction workshops and be available for personal, one-on-one manuscript consultations
